IN JOYCE KINYANGE’S NATIVE LANGUAGE, “ELIMU NI BAHARI” TRANSLATES TO “EDUCATION IS LIKE THE OCEAN.” The sage advice came from her favorite aunt and convinced the globe-hopping 25-year-old Joyce to settle down long enough to discover the power of Butler.

She’d only been on campus for a few minutes before a smiling woman offered to help shoulder the weight of her heavy bags. Joyce was even more impressed when she later learned the identity of the mysterious helper – Butler President Jackie Vietti. That sort of kindness and personal attention made such an impression on Joyce that she never regretted choosing Butler over schools in Norway, France, Spain or Australia. She discovered the power of being a part of the Butler Family.

Before leaving her home of Moshi, Tanzania, Joyce was used to living in a collective, where she says individualism is a commodity. Now that she’s gotten a taste of the personality behind the power, she’s not afraid to stand out of the crowd.
